Toney hall
Board Director

Toney Hall began his theatrical journey on the stage of the Katherine Dunham Theatre at Kennedy-King College in Dreamgirls, Po’, The Wiz, and the first all-black production of A Chorus Line. These productions bolstered the dance training he had received from prominent choreographers Carlton Smith and Robert Keys. Their influence triggered his path into teaching dance in the Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, and the Russell Talbert Dance Studio.
Holding day jobs, in security, the restaurant business, and telemarketing, Toney has been a supporter of BTAA from the very start. He was there at the beginning when Vincent Williams was begging from pillar to post, oftentimes, running errands and preparing the space for the ceremony, Toney was there for Vincent.
He has always believed that the “awards say, thank you for your hard work and keep up the good work. It’s for future generations which will facilitate an appreciation amongst people of all ages to celebrate our Blackness.”
